Xtreme Tar Pits Trek 5000

This weekend Carlie and I went to the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles, CA for a fun weekend activity.  Despite the overwhelmingly “bwahhh?” look you probably have on your face it was actually really interesting.  My dad and sister went there recently and highly recommended it so we checked it out.

The area seems out of place when you first get there.  Here we are in the heart of Los Angeles and this grass field has tar bubbling out of it.  There’s kids running around playing soccer (football to your Euros!) on these big grass fields and at any moment they could stick their legs into tar, get sucked under, and then get excavated about 3 million years later by some earthlings revisiting earth after the second apocalypse which occured 2 million years and made everyone leave the planet and journey out into the solar system upon emergency vessels contracted by the UN’s space life retention program.

Anyway, the museum was the interesting part of all this (the tar was sort of the ‘meh’ part).  The picture I posted above this mammoth picture is a giant sloth statue.  Excavators have found bones for these creatures in the tar and when assembled produce a creature over six feet tall (2 metres to your Euros, again!).  I sort of want a live one to ride around town with.  Carlie expressed this interest as well (that’s her purse in the picture above, in case you are wondering).  Too bad they are extinct.

More pictures of the tar pits on the Pictures page.  Go check it out!

Oh, and do you feel like Beta Testing?  Beta testing for my new game coming SOON (like next two days soon!)!
